It may sound cheesy, but I really enjoy learning from and listening to quality-minded professionals. It’s nice to know what other companies are doing and getting ideas about things I’d like to try.
2. If you could go back in time knowing what you do now, what career advice would you give to yourself when you first started your professional career?
— Invest in your 401K earlier.
— Get into quality assurance testing straight out of college because you’re going to love finding bugs.
3. What has been some of your favorite reading references (books/blogs/magazines) from the last year?
On the personal side, I love reading thrillers and mysteries. Before I Go to Sleep by S.J. Watson was a very suspenseful thriller that I enjoyed while on vacation. On the professional side, I really enjoy Quality Progress (QP) magazine by ASQ. It has a nice variety of articles.
4. What do you think is a common misconception about testing?
That it’s unimportant and can be short-changed. There can be a healthy balance between quality and speed to market. You don’t want your customer finding super obvious errors. It diminishes their confidence in your brand and company.
