Software QA & Testing Meetup – April 2016 Meetup Scheduled

Software QA & Testing Meetup

Attention Ohio Testers:

Our next meetup is scheduled for April 26, 2016.  We are just a few weeks away!  Matthew Eakin has volunteered to give a presentation on “Cucumber as a Collaboration Tool.”  Having heard Matthew speak on several occasions, I am sure this will be an interesting discussion.

For all of the details for our meetup and to RSVP, be sure to visit the Software QA & Testing Meetup on meetup.com.

If you are going to be in the Columbus area, we would love to see you there!

I am going to endeavor to try to post raw notes or recaps from previous meetups on a more frequent basis than I have in the past.

March’s meeting featured Damian Synadinos speaking on the topic of “Commutication – An Exploration of Idea Transfer With Words.”

Communication is a key skill for any profession and especially true for testing.  Damian will be sharing an abbreviated version of his workshop that will be presented later this spring at STPCon.

Software QA & Testing Meetup – September 2015 Meetup Scheduled

Software QA & Testing Meetup

Attention Ohio Testers:

Last month’s meeting was a great two part discussion as we discussed CAST 2015 and the importance of a common Testing Language.

Our meeting on September 29th will have the following topic:

Testing in Agile: Challenges, Problems & Coping With Them

I found this topic from the Grand Rapid Testers meetup and thought it might be a good idea to discuss at our Columbus meetup as well.

Testing is seen as either a bottleneck because we take “too long” to test or inefficient because we don’t find bugs that are uncovered in later sprints or in regression testing.

  • What can we do to deal with some of the common, and not-so-common, problems around testing in Agile environments (perhaps Scrum in particular?)
  • What are the problems that you have faced in an Agile testing environment?

This discussion will help people share what they have tried, done and read about.  We will look for sharing and helping each other with new ideas.

Software QA & Testing Meetup – July 2015 Meetup Scheduled

Software QA & Testing Meetup

Attention Ohio Testers:

Last month’s meeting was full of great discussion as we discussed a wide range of topic during our “open discussion” night.

We covered topics such as:

  • Working for startups
  • Developer/Tester relationships
  • Will “manual” testing stay relevant?
  • Automation ROI
  • Algorithms vs. Heuristics
  • QA vs. QC

Do you know the difference between “testing vs. checking?”  July 28th’s meetup will focus on these key concepts and approaches.

Bring your research, experiences, stories, tips, questions, advice, and resources regarding this topic.  This evening will be entirely a discussion based format.

For all of the details for this meetup and to RSVP, be sure to visit the Software QA & Testing Meetup on meetup.com.  If you are going to be in the Columbus area, we would love to see you there!

Software QA & Testing Meetup – June 2015 Meetup Scheduled

Software QA & Testing Meetup

Attention Ohio Testers:

For our last month’s meeting in May we completed our discussion about “Interviewing & Hiring for Software Testing Jobs – Part 2.”

“Let’s Talk Testing, An Open Discussion” is the title of our meeting for June 30, 2015.  As the name suggests, we will not be having a specific topic predetermined.  Rather we will leave the evening as an open topic format where we can discuss a wide range of topics.

– Have a problem you are trying to solve?  Or even a general question about testing or test management?  Bring it to the group and let’s see if we can use our collective brain power to help each other out and share our experiences.
